So I keep coming back to this because it keeps surprising me how often it becomes a limelight issue. Groceries,, Meal prep, and staying stable. Going from two incomes to one can really stagger a grocery budget, and in my case stress and eating go hand in hamfisted sausage fingered hand. It is important To keep your grocery budget budget friendly, but still enjoyable. concepts vary from person to person and budget to budget, but I like to buy staples when I grocery shop. these are flexable ingredients that can turn into multiple types of meals. Bag of chicken you can go breast or thigh, or pieces for under ten bucks.. if your feeling brave and want to test your culinary skills you can get a whole chicken for 10.00 a bag. If your feeling cheap and dont want to cook, most grocery stores with a deli, (walmart, macys, kroeger etc) will have a whole pre cooked chicken for under ten bucks. so you have your protine. rice is cheap and fairly easy to cook with a pound or two of perfumed (think basmati or jasmine rice) going for under three dollars a bag.. now to make it healthy, 1.25 gets you a whole head of cabbage, pasta noodles for a dollar, sauces for two to three dollars a bottle. and four dollars for a large container of salad mix. and between two and four dollars for a reasonable bottle of premade dressing (you can debate on how healthy this is later, if you want to go cheaper you can get a bottle of lemon juice for 2.00 a bottle, and salt and pepper for cheap depending on size and container well call it three dollars for the sake of the page. another 3.00 for tortilla shells, 3.50 gets you a dozen eggs and a large tub of sour cream for four bucks. (if you want to vary it a little you can throw some oatmeal or discount breakfast cereal in there and some milk for a few dollars depending on how much milk you plan on using.) youve just spent fourty bucks roughly and depending on your choices you have dinner for seven days breakfast for at least five and leftovers for lunch. not horrible. there is aloways room for flexability and to move around what you like and dont like . for example night one. couple legs of the precooked chicken a green salad with dressing and rice. with lemon and pepper.
night number twoo pull some breast meat off the precooked chicken shred it warm it a little sour cream and some lemon pepper cabage and bam street tacos. night three probably finishes the chicken season a little with salt and pepper, put it over your green salad for a chicken salad, dress it, and if you are feeling boujie add a hard boild egg. night four (thats right night four and we only spent fourty bucks. this is assuming your using your eggs and rice for breakfast burritos, or that cold cereal and milk we talked about for breakfast and maybe leftovering it for lunch. you may be tired of chicken by this point but it will take some adjusting to learn what works for you and what doesnt. also remember if you go with fresh produce which I love but it will drive up your budget. keep track of what you use and dont use. It can spoil quickly and isnt worth buying if it just rots in the fridge. I tend to prefer frozen fruits and vegetables because if I dont use them they keep longer and I hate the idea of going to the store once a week. That, however is personal preference..
Now we get to cleaning. A wise woman once said on the days you dont feel like you can do anything, do a little bit. If you are pressed for time. take no more than half an hour to clean spend ten minutes per room in three rooms. sometimes a little straightening up can go a long way and Remember you dont always have to wash all the laundry, the goal here being you dont want your place smelly, but you want clothes to wear for the work week. it helps to plan laundry accordingly. im limited because it costs me change per load to do laundry currently so if Im short of change I pick the things I know Ill need to wear and the things that present a hygine problem if left alone, and those get priority. a couple pairs of pants, a couple shirts underclothing obviously, and a few pairs of socks so I have clean things. pajamas are priority two because who wants to slip into a pair of previously used pjs after a shower?? PRO TIP: some people love and swear by the elcectric dryer.. and thats fine, I see the benefit, but for me it just means more quarters and to get a load dry costs about three dollars, so I spent 14.00 on one of those clothes racks. It folds when not in use, and it doesnt take up much room when unfolded and provided I dont need what ive washed to be dry the very next day it saves money in quarters constantly. it may be worth looking into to save on the electric bill too.
So thats my thoughts for tonight. Feel free to comment with any tips or issues and Ill address them as I can. No trolling please, keep it professional. If you hate my content, Ill respect that as an opinion too, but dont expect to leave a comment like "your content is dumb and your such a loser that in the race to be losers you still came in second" and expect me to respond. Its just embarrasing both of us .
Up next, Go gym.. or go gym or home gym. ??
